Ki Hong
He is born 1973 in Seoul. After
studying composition in Hanyang-University
with Kyong Hwa Chae who herself was a
student of Lachenmann in Stuttgart, I
continued my studies with Claus Ganter
(Harmony and Counterpoint), Erich Urbanner
(Composition) and Uros Lajovic (Conducting)
at the University for music and performing
arts in Vienna.
In May 2004 I won the 1st prize
of the Gustav Mahler International Competition
for Composer with the piece "Die
Schwester" (The Sister, Micro-opera
after the text of Gerhard Ruhm) and in
November of the same year I received the
Honour-prize of the Mario Bernardo ANGELO-COMNENO
International Compositions Competition
with the string quartet "Verstreute
Linien" (dispersed lines). In the
same month the piece "Anreiz"
fur Flute and string orchestra has qualified
for the EPICMUSIC International Composition
Prize. (Result in January 2005)
Already during my studies in Korea
I had the first concert performance of
my composition in Hanyang-University.
Further there has been the performance
of the piece "Verlauf" (Course)
for flute and piano in the Viennese Tabak
Museum and in the Mendelssohnhal in the
University of Vienna in collaboration
with OGZM (Osterreichische Gesellschaft
fur Zeitgenossische Musik). Apart from
Vienna my works have been performed in
Linz, Klagenfurt and Toblach (Southern
Tirol) in Italy and in December 2005 my
1st string quartett was performed in Rom.
Aside from performances I have collaborated
with PRO ART with an orchestra piece and
in August the piece "die Schwester"
was broadcasted on O1 (Austrian classic
radio)
In addition I am working as an arranger
as well as a journalist of "Cultural
Space: The Monthly Magazine of Sejong
Center" in Korea. |
