Seung Ki Hong (Korea) - ¡®Gesprach zur Versohnung¡¯ for Vn., Vc., and Pf. µ¿¿µ»ó

¡á Seung Ki Hong
He is born 1973 in Seoul. After studying composition in Hanyang-University with Kyong Hwa Chae who herself was a student of Lachenmann in Stuttgart, I continued my studies with Claus Ganter (Harmony and Counterpoint), Erich Urbanner (Composition) and Uros Lajovic (Conducting) at the University for music and performing arts in Vienna.

In May 2004 I won the 1st prize of the Gustav Mahler International Competition for Composer with the piece "Die Schwester" (The Sister, Micro-opera after the text of Gerhard Ruhm) and in November of the same year I received the Honour-prize of the Mario Bernardo ANGELO-COMNENO International Compositions Competition with the string quartet "Verstreute Linien" (dispersed lines). In the same month the piece "Anreiz" fur Flute and string orchestra has qualified for the EPICMUSIC International Composition Prize. (Result in January 2005)

Already during my studies in Korea I had the first concert performance of my composition in Hanyang-University. Further there has been the performance of the piece "Verlauf" (Course) for flute and piano in the Viennese Tabak Museum and in the Mendelssohnhal in the University of Vienna in collaboration with OGZM (Osterreichische Gesellschaft fur Zeitgenossische Musik). Apart from Vienna my works have been performed in Linz, Klagenfurt and Toblach (Southern Tirol) in Italy and in December 2005 my 1st string quartett was performed in Rom. Aside from performances I have collaborated with PRO ART with an orchestra piece and in August the piece "die Schwester" was broadcasted on O1 (Austrian classic radio)

In addition I am working as an arranger as well as a journalist of "Cultural Space: The Monthly Magazine of Sejong Center" in Korea.
