¡á Christian
Baldini was born in
Mar del Plata, Argentina
in 1978. He graduated
in both Composition
and Orchestral conducting
at the Catholic University
of Argentina (UCA),
where he received scholarships
for outstanding performance.
In
May 2001 he founded
Camerata Exaudi in the
UCA School of Music
and was its Principal
Conductor until July
2003. In September 2002
he founded Ensemble
LonBA jointly with the
composers Matias Giuliani
from Argentina and William
Attwood from the UK,
with which he has conducted
several first performances
in Europe and in the
Teatro Colon, the most
important venue in Buenos
Aires.
He
received the Multiplikatoren
Stipendium scholarship
form the German Goethe
Institut, which enabled
him to study in Berlin
with Kent Nagano, chief
Conductor of the Deutsches
Symphonie-Orchester
Berlin. He was awarded
composition prizes from
the Argentinian ministry
of culture for his piece
Senza memoria di morte.
He also won the Centro
de Estudiantes de la
Facultad de artes y
Ciencias Musicales (CEFACM)
Prize in two categories:
chamber music for his
piece Fingiendo el presentir
and choral music for
his works Lejos and
Ave Maria II.
Mr.
Baldini made his professional
debut at the age of
24. He has been a guest
conductor of the Mar
del Plata Symphony Orchestra,
the Penn State Chamber
Orchestra and the San
Martin Youth Symphony
Orchestra. Since September
2003 he is principal
conductor of the Penn
State Sinfonietta. In
October 2003 he founded
the Penn State University
Ensemble Chiasmo, for
which well known composers
Julio Viera and Sidney
Corbett among others
have especially written
pieces to be premiered.
Mr.
Baldini has successfully
conducted several first
performances in Argentina
and made gis European
debut in Berlin within
the famous Contemporary
Music Cycle Unerhorte
Musik. His compositions
have been performed
by the most outstanding
groups in Argentina
and Europe : the National
Polyphonic Choir of
Argentina, the Pierrot
Lunnaire Ensemble of
Vienna and the Illegal
Harmony ensemble of
Scotland.
He
is currently a candidate
in the Master's Degree
Program in Orchestral
Conducting at Penn State
University, where he
is also working as a
Teaching Assistant.
Future engagements include
a guest conducting concert
with the Tucuman Symphony
Orchestra, a concert
in Italy conducting
the Genoa conservatory
Ensemble and commissions
from the Ensemble Antares
and Illegal Harmony
Ensemble.
